Matt 4:3; Luke 4:3.
“During that time.” We don’t know if the devil came at the beginning or the end of His fast. This is a fine example of how the devil works. He will try and thwart your plans when you’re trying to do godly things. Jesus had the power to destroy the devil. Yet, He resisted using His power. He was obedient to God’s plan. He used the Scripture as His sword. If you go to Ephesians 6, you’ll read about the Armor of God. The battle is not ours, but the Lord’s. We must learn how to wield the word of God. Jesus used the Scriptures, which was the Old Testament for His fight with the devil. We can use both the Old and the New Testament for our battles. Yet, we must read the word in order to know the word.
This is part 2 of a 6 part series on Jesus’ encounter with Satan in the wilderness. The majority of this text has been taken from my upcoming book, A Walk With Jesus Through Bible.
