There seems to be some concern about the Blood Moon or “Tetrad” that will appear on April 15, 2014 or the other upcoming dates.   Scholars and pastors are divided on its meaning and significance. Some pastors are quoting Scriptures that may be reference to this event. While others are claiming doomsday. I’m not seeking to inform you on which side is right.  I am, however, seeking to encourage you to look at this pending event with another set of lenses.

The following Scripture reference has nothing to do with the Blood Moon. Yet it can provide a good word picture for us.  Take a look at 2 Kings 1:9-14. Elijah asked for fire from heaven to come down on King Ahaziah’s men who were sent to bring him back to the king. What would the world be like if a man of God could call down fire from heaven and consume evil people? Obviously the chance for repentance would be gone.  My point is this, if God wanted to destroy us or this planet…it wouldn’t be a problem for Him.

I want to ease your mind on one other point. Some prophecy theorist are claiming the Blood Moon will begin the Rapture.  I’m uncertain of the validity of their revelation.   I do know Jesus stated, “that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father (Mark 13:32)”  We don’t have to live in fear of impending doom.

In the earlier Scripture we reviewed, we saw how fire can come from heaven and destroy us. I think that situation would be more fearful than speculating that a natural occurrence is now a symbol for the Rapture.  In either situation, the key for us is to be prepared.  We don’t want to be like the virgins who were unprepared for the coming of the Lord (Matt 25:7).

This is a great opportunity to show an often skeptical world how to live for Christ.  This is a perfect time to evangelize to those you know.  Some people may be fearful.  If they’re fearful about their future, why don’t you inform them on how they can be assured of eternal life with God (that’s basically what evangelism is all about).  God wants us to fear  (reverence) Him not fear (afraid).

Amazingly, the numbers of people who believe in God is on the decline.  Yet, many become interested in our Father when catastrophe looms or happens.  This is your time…this is your opportunity to let them know all the things your pastors and ministers have been teaching you about living a Christ-like life now and being assured of eternal life with Him later.

I honestly don’t know if any of these things are a part of prophecy.  If it is–good.  If it isn’t–good. In either case, lets celebrate God’s wonders.  If He can make the moon appear Blood colored, He can do anything. Lets also remember God is in control on whatever happens on April 15, 2014. On April 16, 2014, we will either be on earth showing people how to live for Him or we’ll be with Him.  Both situations are quite appealing since “He will never forsake us.”  I encourage you to be strong and of good courage for God is with us.”  This is the lens I hope you look at this event through.
