Unschooled!

Acts 4:13-22

Unschooled.” “Uneducated.”  That’s how the religious leaders described the Apostle Peter and John.

Do you have a PhD in Theology?  No? Good. God can use you to reach people for Him! Having an education isn’t a requirement to be a spokesperson for God.  Many oppressed Christians throughout the world don’t have a bible. In fact some of the churches don’t even own a complete bible. Some only have a few pages and are willing to die for those pages.  Often, probably 100% of the time, their pastor doesn’t have a PhD.  Many of the pastors don’t have any formal training.  Yet the church is thriving and converting people to Christianity.

You have a bible. You can do OUTSTANDING things for Him. Are you doing it? If not, today is the day to start. Speak with your pastor and see how you can use your talent, time and treasure for Christ.

Pray to God and ask Him to show you His will for you. Ask Him to show you the mission He put you on earth to fulfill!

The religious rulers were a bit indignant. They were perplexed.  How someone who hasn’t studied the Word (Torah) know so much?  Only selected boys were able to be the disciples of the Rabbi’s. Usually they were the really smart ones that understood the Scriptures.

In one sense, this is a message to us. The Holy Spirit can and will reveal things to us. Also, we learn and understand more every time we read the word. We aren’t going to learn by osmosis.   We must put in some effort. God can use someone without a High School education like He can use someone with a college education. Neither one is better than the other. Yet each one can reach different people. Who are you reaching?

I want to be clear on one thing. The way you live will be a great life testimony. It would probably do more to further the Kingdom than several sermons. Someone once said, “I’d rather see a sermon than hear a sermon.” In essence he was saying a change in your behavior is a better way to show people how you’ve become a Christian.

Warning: Not everyone will be accepting of your faith and your new way of life. Pray for them.  The religious leaders ordered Peter and John to be quite and don’t mention Christ any more.“But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to Him? You be the judges!”

That’s how we should live. We don’t live to please man or woman but God.  He goes on to say, “As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

How many people do you think was convinced by the healed man’s testimony? How can you operate a portion of your body that you never had experience moving? How do you do this? The muscle and fibers have long ago atrophied. The blood circulation was next to nothing. But now! Now you can move it.

Just like the now healed man, we have been healed and are healing from the grip of sin. Tell the world of the love and kindness our Lord has shown you. We might not be as educated as some but we can learn a lot by reading His word. As we learn more about Him, we can share His word to more and more people. It’s not about what you know. It’s about Who you know. As your desire to know more about Him grows, you’ll undoubtedly want to read and learn more about Him.

You don’t need to have a Theology degree to share Christ.  While I highly endorse obtaining formal education, I realize it’s not the degree that will make you successful.  The Holy Spirit can give you the power.  This coupled with your personal study will make you a powerful person for Him.  After all, it’s about Him!  Remember, preach and teach what you know.  In doing so, you’ll help fulfill the Scripture.
