Change Your Village

Jesus Christ Loves You

This week you might meet someone new and probably see some old friends and acquaintances.  Do they know Who you belong to?  Do they know the wonderful life you now enjoy?  If so, are you sharing this great gift with them?

Lets look at a simple but well read story from the Scriptures.  One time Jesus encounters a Samaritan woman (John 4:27).  For simplicity sake, Samaritans and Jews were enemies.  So they didn’t talk to one another.  Also, men and women didn’t talk to each other in open forums like this.  Remember, I’m oversimplifying this.

As you read the story you’ll notice that Jesus disregarded both of those cultural norms.  Like Jesus, we should also.  Make it a point to talk to someone different from you.  You might learn something new.  Talking to someone new offers and something else.  You’ll be able to share the Gospel with them.  This is either verbally or by the way you act.

Jesus shared time with her and shared with her what she’d get if she follow Him.  My question and challenge to you is simple.  “Are you sharing Christ with others or do you simply “hang out” with fellow Christians?”

It’s true Christians need to be encouraged and challenged.  Yet, unbelievers will not be knocking down the church door to learn about Christ. It can happen but I don’t think it will on a large-scale.  Why would they want to learn about Christ if His followers won’t even talk to them?

A Brand New Day

Guess what might happen if you shared Christ with them?  Read John 4:28-30.  She ran to her village to tell them about the man she met.  She said, “could he possibly be the Messiah?”  She did something no one else had done up to this point.  She helped convert her village.  Her testimony changed many lives!  Is your testimony changing lives?  Are you sharing the love and knowledge of Christ to others?  Or, do you only talk about Christ to fellow believers?

Some Christians believe that they shouldn’t talk about their faith.  I think that is a bait of the devil to thwart us from spreading the Gospel. Or, we’re simply afraid to share His word.  Get this point.  “Do not be afraid of sharing the most important Word to the world.”  Jesus told us to spread His message.  Don’t let societal norms or the current conventional wisdom stop you from following Jesus’ mandate. You should follow Jesus’ words, not those belonging to naysayers and unbelievers. You have been strategically positioned in your family, circle of friends, neighborhood, job, school, etc., to show, teach and talk about the goodness of Christ to those individual.  They need to know about the opportunity for salvation.  Who will tell them?  If not you, then who?

Are you up for the challenge?  Of course you are.  Don’t worry about being a Theologian or superb speaker.  Simply share the love of Christ through your words and deeds.

The Christian narrative is being written and spoken by non-Christians, those who don’t know about the Christian lifestyle and those who oppose our beliefs.  We need you to help spread the correct narrative.

Lets change our village.  The time is now.  We’re already one day into the new year.

  1. Yves Johnson Good job
Mk.8: 34And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Not only are those things you talked about a good thing they are also commandmnets of our LORD JESUS!

      1. Mt.10:34Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
these are our covenant agreements we signed on for when we said Lord forgive me I am a sinner most miserable please Lord forgive me, to know the cost of servanthood, discipleship, and Lord’s Friend is the most costly thing we will ever do; just as our LORD GOD gave His all for us, that is what He expects from us, Jn14. 6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. We had better follow in His own footsteps if we are truly His!
